Instructions for Earthquake Project
1.) Choose an earthquake from the list that has occurred since the year 2005 (list the year and location)
2.) Click on the hyperlink to get more information from Wikipedia
3.) List the basic facts concerning the quake: location, date, magnitude, death toll, depth of focus
4.) Which tectonic structures were involved in the earthquake?
5.) Which major landmasses are associated with these plates? 
6.) What specific tectonic interaction caused the earthquake? (subduction, mid-ocean ridge, etc)
7.) What major areas (cities, counties, countries, provinces) were most affected by the quake?
8.) For each area, what was the ranking on the Mercalli scale?
9.) How much damage (in US dollars) was estimated to have been done by this quake?
10.) What organizations were created or utilized in order to provide help and relief to the people affected by the quake? (give organization names and websites)
11.) Find two news articles online that covered information about the quake. For each, list the online Journal, the title of the news article, the author, and the date it was released. Read through the article and give a brief summary (this summary may include descriptions of images that are linked to the article, information from interviews of eyewitnesses, etc. Try to give information you got from the article that isn't covered by questions 1-10).
